Let’s face it: It might be a while until you can travel the world again, collecting fresh stamps in your passport and discovering hidden gems in faraway countries. But with HelloHues, you can take a trip around the world and back again just by putting on a pair of cool socks. Every month this year, we’re taking our men’s sock of the month club and women’s sock of the month club subscribers to an exciting new country by sending them a brand-new pair of socks inspired by a new place. Last month, we traveled to Mexico with taco socks fit for a fiesta. This month, pack your binoculars because we’re heading on a South African safari.
When you slip on these safari socks, you’re in for a totally roar-some time. They feature animals you’re likely to see out on a great safari adventure, like lions, rhinos, elephants, and cheetahs. Don’t forget the giraffes, of course—they’re the ones truly living the high life. If we tried to fit every single animal in South Africa on these socks, that’d make for one massive pair. The country is home to over 850 species of birds alone, including ostrich, crane, and sunbirds. And don’t forget the springbok, the national animal of South Africa. They’re so beloved, the national rugby union team is named after them!
South Africa, much like these socks, is a vibrant, colorful country. In fact, its nickname is the Rainbow Nation, coined by Archbishop Desmond Tutu after apartheid ended in 1994. There are six different colors on the South African flag—black, yellow, green, white, red, and blue—representing the coming together of many different people. To this day, more than 25 years later, it’s a more diverse nation than ever. South Africa has 10 official languages, and at least 35 are spoken in the Republic. More South Africans can speak more than one language.
Want to live the high life with a friend? There’s always room in the safari truck for one more! Your adventure around the world doesn’t have to be a solo one. Invite a friend to join the HelloHues sock of the month club and take your next trip together. If you can’t actually see your travel buddy in person right now, matching socks are the next best thing. And, as always, if you snap a pic of your new socks, tag #sayitwithasock on Instagram to be featured in our feed. A new adventure awaits next month, so until then, keep living the high life.
